Data Portals
These are primary, large-scale open data portals for municipal, regional, provincial, and federal GIS data.
- City of Vancouver Open Data Portal
- The city’s portal for high-resolution municipal data, including urban ecology, green spaces, street trees, and utilities.
- Metro Vancouver Open Data Portal
- Provides regional-scale data that cross municipal boundaries in the lower mainland, such as regional parks, land use, and remote sensing data.
- BC Data Catalogue
- Contains datasets from B.C. government ministries, including wildlife, forestry, water, administrative boundaries, and base maps.
- Government of Canada Open Data Portal
- The federal portal for national-scale datasets. This portal contains data related to tidal fisheries (DFO), national parks (Parks Canada), federal species at risk (SARA), and climate (Environment and Climate Change Canada).
Conservation & Environmental Data Hubs
These resources are more specialized, focusing specifically on biodiversity, ecosystems, and natural resource management in British Columbia.
- BC Conservation Data Centre (CDC)
- Information on species and ecosystems at risk in B.C.
- iMapBC
- An interactive web-mapping application from the B.C. government that provides access to hundreds of integrated datasets.
- Community Mapping Network (CMN)
- A network that supports community-based mapping and data collection.
